CASNETUM
Historicis Gallicis quoque dicitur, quod alias Quercetum, vulgo le Quesnoy, oppidum Hannoniae. Quam enim Latini quercum, Galli olim Casnum nominavêre, hodie un chesne, alias quesne. Hinc legimus in priscis literis, In silva S. Benigni et ibi taliassent vel occidissent uno casno de S. Benigno, i. e. quercum unam cecidissent, ad Divionense Monasterium S. Benigni pertinentem. Unde etiam Casnum nomen habet, villa Cotiae villae vicina, in silva Cotia, Chesne en Cuise, alias Chesne Herbelot vulgo: cuius meminit Bertinus Annal. ad A. C. 877. Et discurrentibus inter eos missis, ad hos perventum est, ut Richildis et ipsi Primores ad eum Compendium venirent, et suum Conventum ad Casnum in Cotia condixerunt. Vide Hadr. Vales. Notit.
